How does our Milton snow removal contract work?
You sign one seasonal contract that runs November 1 to April 30. Whenever snow reaches 5 cm (2 in), a plow truck and shovel crew clear your driveway, walkway and front steps, salt them, and pile the snow on your property. You pay in six monthly instalments, from November 1 to April 1.
There is no calling around at 6 a.m. to find someone free. You are on the route for the whole season, and we work 24/7 during snow events, overnight included. We do not publish snow prices, because a single-car driveway in Old Milton and a wide double driveway on a corner lot in Cobban are different jobs. Driveway size and layout set the price, and the quote is free.

What does the Town of Milton clear, and what do homeowners clear?
The Town of Milton plows roads by priority and clears sidewalks on school, transit and major pedestrian routes once 5 cm falls. Homeowners clear their own driveway, the windrow the plow leaves at the end of it, and the sidewalk in front of their home within 24 hours after the snow stops.
The Town maintains more than 2,400 km of roads and over 250 km of sidewalks. Major roads come first, rural collector roads second and residential streets after that, with the aim of finishing every street within 24 hours after a snowfall ends. That order is why the windrow often lands at the end of your driveway hours after the snow has stopped, so ask us how plow timing works on your street.
By-law 106-2019 also bans pushing snow onto the road or sidewalk, blocking a fire hydrant, or piling snow where it blocks the view of drivers or pedestrians. That is why we keep the snow on your property and the piles low near the street. Our guide to snow clearing by-laws in Milton, Mississauga and Oakville goes further.
| Area | Who clears it | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Roads | Town of Milton | Priority order, aiming for 24 hours after the snowfall ends |

| Sidewalk in front of your home | Owner or occupant | Within 24 hours after the snow stops (By-law 106-2019) |

| Driveway, walkway, front steps | Homeowner, or us under contract | Cleared at 5 cm, salted, snow kept on the property |
Can you park on the street during a Milton snowstorm?
No. Milton bans street parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., and during winter storms the Town suspends parking exception permits so no cars can be parked on Milton roads. The Town usually suspends them when 10 cm or more is forecast, and cars left out may be ticketed or towed.
This matters for your driveway too. When the street has to be empty, every car in the house sits in the driveway and the plow has less room. Tell us how many cars you have and where they park overnight, and we plan around them: plow where the pavement is open, shovel crew around the vehicles. During a suspension the Town lists designated lots where residents can park for 48 hours.
Which Milton neighbourhoods do we cover?
We cover all of Milton, including Old Milton, Timberlea, Beaty, Dempsey, Harrison, Clarke, Coates, Hawthorne Village, Willmott, Scott and the Boyne Survey neighbourhoods of Bowes, Cobban, Ford and Walker. Older streets and new subdivisions need different clearing, so we quote each driveway on its own size and layout.
Old Milton and Timberlea have older homes on deeper lots, with longer driveways and front steps that need hand shovelling. Newer streets in Beaty, Dempsey, Harrison, Clarke, Coates and Willmott often have double driveways with little room to pile snow. In the Boyne Survey, between Louis St. Laurent Avenue and Britannia Road, townhouse rows with narrow driveways mean the shovel crew does as much work as the plow. We also cover Halton Hills, including Georgetown and Acton, and the rest of our town services are on lawn care in Milton.
Why does snow drift more on some Milton streets?
Milton sits below the Niagara Escarpment, and many newer streets on the edge of town back onto open fields. Wind crossing open ground picks up loose snow and drops it onto driveways after they have been cleared, so on those streets drifting can matter as much as the snowfall total.
Drifts build fastest along streets that face farmland or open parkland, and along long townhouse rows that funnel the wind. Where the layout allows, we pile snow on the downwind side of the driveway so it does not blow straight back, and we keep piles low near the street so you can see traffic when you back out. Tell us when you sign up if your driveway drifts, because it changes where the piles go.
When should you book snow removal in Milton?
Book before November. The contract starts November 1, and snow stakes go in during the fall so the plow can find your driveway edges, curbs and garden beds under the first heavy snow. Send your address and a photo on WhatsApp and the quote usually comes back the same day.
Stakes protect more than the plow. They keep the blade off your lawn edge and interlock borders, which is where plow damage shows up in spring (see rock salt damage on lawns and interlock). If the lawn still needs its last cut and the leaves cleared, book a fall cleanup first.
