What do lawn care services in Oakville include?

Oakville lawn care with us means a weekly cut from May to October, from $150 a month for a home, and each visit includes the trim, the edge and the clippings. We also quote leaf cleanup, aeration, hedges, garden beds and interlock, with one crew and one WhatsApp contact.

Oakville is two lawn markets. South of the QEW, around Old Oakville, Bronte and Eastlake, older lots sit under big canopy trees, and shade, roots and leaves set the agenda. North of Dundas Street the lots are newer and the trees are young, so the work looks more like Milton: compacted builder soil and weekly lawn mowing that keeps edges tight.

The soil changes too. Agriculture Canada's soil survey of Halton County maps the land near the lake as the old Lake Iroquois plain, thin sediments over red shale with sandy beach ridges, while the land rising toward the escarpment is clay loam till. Thin lakeside soils dry out first in July; the clay further north holds water.

How does Oakville's loose leaf collection affect fall cleanup?

In neighbourhoods at least 25 years old with many large trees, the Town of Oakville collects loose leaves from the boulevard. In 2026 the program runs October 26 to December 4 by zone. Leaves should be out by 7 a.m. on the first day of your zone's week, and no more than seven days early.

Piles go on the boulevard or shoulder, never over catch basins, in bike lanes or in ditches, and must be free of brush, stones and garbage. Contaminated piles and late leaves stay behind. Outside the program, leaves go to Halton's bagged yard waste in paper bags, and Oakville homes can call 311 about bulk brush pickup.

Our fall cleanup is timed to your zone: leaves come out of beds and off the lawn, sticks stay out of the pile, and the pile goes to the boulevard inside the seven-day window. The fall lawn cleanup checklist covers the rest of the season's jobs.

Do you need a permit for tree work in Oakville?

Often, yes. Oakville's Private Tree Protection By-law requires a permit to remove any private tree with a trunk 15 cm or more across at chest height, and it also regulates injury to trees. About half of Oakville's urban forest grows on private property, so most landscaping projects meet the by-law.

For us that mostly means planning. A new garden bed, patio or walkway dug through the root zone of a large maple can count as injury, so landscape design and planting starts by mapping the trees and keeping excavation back from them. Hedges are a different job: hedge trimming keeps cedar and privet hedges dense and in bounds without removing anything.

Oakville snow removal: what the Town clears and what it leaves

The Town of Oakville plows 2,000 lane km of roads and 1,100 km of sidewalks, but residential streets wait until snow stops and reaches 7.5 cm, and local sidewalks are plowed at 8 cm within up to 48 hours. Driveways are left to you unless you join the Town's paid windrow program.

The 2026 to 2027 windrow program costs $215 with HST, runs December 1 to March 31 and is capped at 1,100 driveways, with general registration from October 16 to November 7, 2026. It clears about 80% of the windrow, once per event, up to 36 hours after snow ends, and the Town warns it may not suit patterned concrete.

Our snow removal contracts start at 5 cm instead of 7.5, cover the driveway, walkway and steps, include salt, and run November 1 to April 30, paid monthly in six instalments. Plazas and condo sites can book commercial snow removal with a written scope.

Which Oakville neighbourhoods do you cover?

All of them, from Bronte, Old Oakville and Eastlake along the lake to Glen Abbey, West Oak Trails, River Oaks, Iroquois Ridge, Joshua Creek and the new streets north of Dundas. Our Milton base is about 30 km north, so Oakville shares weekly routes with our home town.

If you also own in Burlington, our Burlington lawn care page covers that City's leaf zones and tree by-law, which differ from Oakville's in small ways, such as a 20 cm tree permit threshold instead of 15 cm, and leaf piles out no more than two days ahead instead of seven.

Oakville: common questions

When is loose leaf collection in Oakville in 2026?

The Town of Oakville's 2026 loose leaf program runs October 26 to December 4. Zones 1 to 8 get three passes two weeks apart, while zones A, B and C are collected once between November 16 and 27. The Town's online tracker shows your zone and which streets are done.

Can I take down a tree on my Oakville property without a permit?

Not if its trunk measures 15 cm or more in diameter at chest height; that needs a Town permit. The Town arranges an on-site consultation as part of the permit. Smaller trees and genuine emergencies are exempt, and woodlands under the Halton Region Tree By-law follow the Region's rules instead.

Does the Town of Oakville clear my driveway after a snowfall?

No. The Town plows the road and sidewalk, and the windrow at the end of your driveway is yours unless you pay for the Town's windrow program ($215 with HST for 2026 to 2027, limited to 1,100 driveways). Even then, only most of the windrow is cleared, not the driveway itself.

How much does lawn care cost in Oakville?

From $150 a month for weekly mowing of an Oakville home, May to October, with the trim, edge and clippings included. Leaf cleanups, aeration, hedges and landscaping are quoted after we see the property, since a Glen Abbey lot under mature trees and a new build north of Dundas are different jobs.
